Serbian Foreign Minister Responds to Opposition Allegations Against President Vučić

Marko Đurić defends President Vučić against claims of ties to criminal activities, emphasizing evidence-based discourse.
Marko Đurić, the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, has characterized recent allegations made by Borka Stefanović, Deputy President of the Freedom and Justice Party, as yet another desperate attempt by the opposition to tarnish and criminalize President Aleksandar Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), stating that such claims lack substantiated proof.

Đurić reacted to Stefanović's insinuations regarding President Vučić's purported connections to criminal organizations, urging for a discourse grounded in factual evidence.

In a statement posted on social media, he asserted that allegations linking Vučić and his brother to drug trafficking are fabricated lies.

He continued, "Your lies cannot bring you to power, as the people of Serbia can perceive your motives clearly.

However, the consequences of your fabrications are that the lies you spread will undoubtedly be used by our country’s enemies abroad to malign all of us in Serbia, regardless of our political affiliation." Đurić described the opposition's actions as a lack of responsible criticism, warning that such behavior reflects poorly on their credibility with voters.

In his remarks, Đurić highlighted that law enforcement and judicial authorities, under the SNS government, have apprehended an unprecedented number of individuals connected to drug trafficking, asserting that Vučić is committed to combating this issue.

He stated, "The intent of the state is entirely clear, as are the results – better than before, better than when you and yours were in charge." The Minister emphasized the ongoing positive changes in Serbia, attributing them to diligent and sincere efforts.

Earlier in the evening, Stefanović had posed questions to Vučić regarding alleged communications on the encrypted application Sky ECC involving drug dealer Filip Korać.

This followed Vučić’s previous public address in which he categorically denied any allegations made by opposition MP Marinika Tepić concerning his connections to Korać, declaring he had never seen drugs in his life and expressed a strong disdain for drug dealers.

Additionally, he called upon the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office to confirm the veracity of the allegations, stating that if proven false, he would resign from his position as president.
