Teenager Arrested Following Fatal Shooting in Central Belgrade

The investigation continues into the assassination of a 24-year-old man, as authorities confirm the involvement of a minor.
A shooting incident in central Belgrade has led to the death of a 24-year-old man identified as I.A. The attack took place on a busy street, Gavrila Principa, while the victim was inside his Land Rover.

Witnesses reported that the victim was struck by multiple gunshots from two assailants before they fled the scene on foot.

Authorities confirmed the swift capture of the suspects, a 16-year-old named B.R. and a 20-year-old accomplice, B.N., within an hour of the incident.

According to police officials, the crime bears the characteristics of a professional hit.

The Minister of Police, Ivica Dačić, stated that both suspects were found in possession of firearms equipped with silencers.

Ballistics testing matched the bullets recovered from the scene to those found with the suspects.

Dačić noted that the individuals involved in the murder were previously known to law enforcement.

Initial investigations reveal the possibility that the shooting was a targeted attack.

Dačić indicated that the suspects may have intended to kill another individual who had previously been in the vicinity of the victim.

He remarked on the complexities of the investigation, suggesting that the true target might not have been I.A., but rather an associate with whom he had been seen shortly before the shooting.

The shooting took place shortly after 8 PM, during which time children were present at a nearby elementary school, Isidora Sekulić, prompting authorities to escort them away from the area.

Parents arrived at the scene in confusion as law enforcement and emergency services worked to secure the site.

The rapid response of medical personnel confirmed that the victim had sustained fatal injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after their arrival.

The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement exploring various angles, including potential motives related to organized crime or personal retribution.

Video footage from nearby security cameras is being analyzed, showing the moments leading up to the shooting, including the behavior of the victim and the assailants.

This violent incident adds to growing concerns regarding public safety in urban areas, particularly as the involvement of a minor in such an act raises alarm about youth violence and criminal affiliations.

The police continue to urge the public for any information that may assist in unraveling the circumstances surrounding this case.
