Youth Detained Over Murder of Young Man in Belgrade's Gavrila Principa Street

A teenager and a 19-year-old have been remanded in custody following a fatal shooting incident in Belgrade.
The Higher Court in Belgrade has issued a detention order for Nikola B. (19), suspected of being involved in the murder of I.A., a young man, on June 6th in Gavrila Principa Street.

Nikola B. and an unidentified minor allegedly conspired to shoot I.A. in a public area, while also attempting to harm another individual during the incident.

The detention is valid for up to 30 days and was imposed due to concerns over the risk of flight, potential influence on witnesses, and the possibility of reoffending in a short time frame, according to court spokesperson Milica Veličković.

During the prosecutor's questioning, Nikola B. opted to remain silent, exercising his legal right not to provide a defense.

The minor suspected of participation in the murder is also reported to be in custody, with a separate proceeding underway at the Juvenile Department of the Higher Court in Belgrade.

The charges against Nikola B. include aggravated murder in complicity with other parties, coupled with the illegal production, possession, carrying, and trade of weapons and explosive materials.

Specific details indicate that, on the night of June 6th at around 8:11 PM, Nikola B. and the minor were near a café when I.A. exited and approached a parked Land Rover Discovery vehicle.

As I.A. moved to enter the vehicle, an unidentified individual, who had previously sat in the café with him, attempted to follow.

Upon noticing this, the suspects reportedly drew firearms and fired multiple shots towards the unidentified individual in an effort to kill him, prompting the latter to flee.

Subsequently, the bullets then struck I.A., who was seated in the driver's seat of the vehicle, resulting in injuries to his head, left arm, and left thigh.

I.A. managed to activate his vehicle, fleeing down Gavrila Principa Street, but soon collided with a public transportation vehicle.

He succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

The firearms used in the attack were identified as a 'Crvena zastava' pistol and a 'Walther PPQ45.' Surveillance cameras captured the moments leading up to and including the shooting.

Residents have spoken about the events surrounding I.A.'s murder, while a friend of the deceased expressed concerns that he may also have been a target in this incident.

Further details concerning the suspected assailants are forthcoming.
