A 25-year-old master’s student, referred to by the initials D.M., has been arrested following an incident that occurred on the evening of June 4 in New Belgrade.

According to reports, D.M. was apprehended after being located in the residence of relatives in the Surčin area through tracking his mobile phone.

The arrest was followed by a police custody determination, and he is scheduled to be questioned at 10 a.m. the following day at the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office.

He faces charges of violent behavior under Article 344, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, primarily for recording a confrontation during the incident.

The altercation involved students residing in the Student City of New Belgrade and those dubbed 'students who want to learn'.

Witness accounts indicate that the confrontation escalated into violence after a gathering outside the student dormitory, where students engaged in singing.

One of the involved students, Miloš Pavlović from the Faculty of Medicine, reported visiting the dorm to reconnect with peers after a five-month separation.

He described the scene where he and his colleagues were met by a group of local students who began singing at them.

As Pavlović and his friends attempted to leave the dormitory, they faced aggression from the gathering, including the throwing of cans and bottles.

In an account delivered while receiving treatment at the Emergency Center, Pavlović stated, “I was hit in the face by a can.

At one moment, I saw six of them attacking me simultaneously.”

Footage of the incident does not provide a clear depiction of the events that unfolded.

Pavlović later appeared in a wheelchair in the company of the Minister of Health, Zlatibor Lončar, who confirmed that Pavlović had suffered head injuries and is facing potential complications from the assault.
