Infrastructure Improvements at Vuk Karadžić School in Srbobran

NIS and the Municipality of Srbobran collaborate on a major roof reconstruction project to enhance educational conditions.
A significant infrastructural project has been completed at the Primary School "Vuk Karadžić" in Srbobran, thanks to the partnership between the local municipality and NIS, a leading energy company in Serbia.

The project, which involved the complete reconstruction of the school's roof, has ensured safer and higher-quality conditions for students and staff.

This initiative is part of a broader community support program titled "Together for Our Communities", which NIS has been implementing for 16 years.

The total value of the roof reconstruction project is approximately 16 million dinars.

NIS contributed half of the funding, with the remaining amount provided by the Municipality of Srbobran.

The project included the complete overhaul of the roof covering an area of 2,454 square meters, significantly improving the building’s energy efficiency and creating better conditions for educational activities.

The Primary School "Vuk Karadžić" is the oldest educational institution in the Srbobran municipality and is notable for providing inclusive education.

It participates in a project aimed at creating cleaner and greener schools, focusing on environmental protection topics and activities.

The school serves 420 students, including children with developmental difficulties and those who need additional educational support.

To commemorate the successful project completion, the school was visited by Radivoj Debeljački, the president of the Municipality of Srbobran, and Igor Korać, a representative from NIS, alongside the school’s director, Ružica Milić.

Debeljački emphasized the importance of collaboration between NIS and the municipality, highlighting the significance of corporate social responsibility.

He noted, "Today, we are in a school that has completely changed its roof, which was indeed a significant problem.

In discussions with the school's director and our citizens, we recognized the need for this reconstruction, and I believe this project has demonstrated a sense of community and how this partnership leads to such beautiful initiatives like that at the Primary School 'Vuk Karadžić'."

Igor Korać expressed gratitude for the long-term partnership with the Municipality of Srbobran.

He stated, "This municipality is of great importance to us, and we must have a common direction and good cooperation.

We hope that this collaboration will continue in the years to come, and I thank the president of the municipality for the excellent collaboration."

Director Ružica Milić expressed appreciation to NIS and the local authorities for recognizing a decades-old problem and assisting in its resolution through two significant projects.

She noted, "Thanks to these investments, 420 students are now attending classes in a safe environment, and I am confident that nearly 60 staff members feel more motivated to impart their knowledge and skills to young generations."

Moreover, the next phase of school infrastructure enhancements has been announced, which includes the construction of a 50 kW solar power plant to be installed on the new roof.

This project, supported under NIS’s "Together for Our Communities" program and scheduled for implementation in 2024, will enable the school to produce green energy, positioning it as an example of sustainable education in Serbia.

The Municipality of Srbobran has been a partner in the "Together for Our Communities" program since its inception in 2009. Over the past sixteen years, nearly 94 million dinars have been invested in 57 projects in Srbobran, contributing to the development of the municipality and the enhancement of the quality of life for its residents.

The program continues to illustrate the importance and strength of partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as the importance of investing in children's education.
