Tens of thousands of citizens gathered in central Madrid today to protest against the government of Spanish Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, demanding the announcement of early general elections.

The protests come at a time when Sánchez's party, administration, and family members continue to face numerous allegations of corruption.

The demonstration, organized by the opposition conservative People's Party (PP) under the slogan "mafia or democracy," attracted between 45,000 and 50,000 participants, according to the central government's regional delegation, while organizers estimated the turnout to be around 100,000.

During the past year, Pedro Sánchez's government and his inner circle have been confronted with a series of corruption allegations.

Pressure on the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has intensified in recent days, following accusations against a former party member for attempting to orchestrate a discrediting campaign against the Civil Guard—a police unit investigating Sánchez's wife, Begonya Gómez, his brother David Sánchez, and former Transport Minister José Luis Abalos.

Protesters gathered at Plaza de España in Madrid, holding banners with messages such as "SÁNCHEZ TRAITOR" and "GOVERNMENT RESIGN NOW," while the leader of the People's Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, reiterated calls for early elections.

He stated, "Spain needs a revolution of decency and freedom, and we will lead that revolution from the streets and at the polls.

Mr. Sánchez, stop hiding, stop lying, and stop running for office.

Spain knows too well who you are and what you have done.

Yield to democracy.

Call for elections; we want them now because no one voted for this, not even your supporters."

In response, Prime Minister Sánchez accused his political and media opponents of conducting an "OPERATION OF HARASSMENT AND INTIMIDATION" against him and his wife, asserting that allegations directed at her are designed to lead to his "personal and political collapse."
