Prosecutors Seek Arrest of Students in Connection with Attack on Miloš Pavlović

Three students face detention amid accusations of violent behavior, while public unrest grows following the incident.
The Prosecutor's Office has requested a detention order for up to 30 days against three students linked to an attack on Miloš Pavlović, a student at the Faculty of Law.

According to a statement from the Prosecutor's Office, two students have admitted to committing acts of violence, while three others have denied the charges.

One of the accused, a 20-year-old student identified as L.T., confessed to disturbing public peace and security.

He reportedly was aware of Pavlović's location at the 'Fontana' café, where Pavlović was with friends.

L.T. allegedly approached the group, took advantage of a crowd, and struck in the direction of Pavlović and another friend, causing feelings of fear and insecurity among them.

A prior court ruling for L.T. had imposed a suspended sentence of eight months, contingent upon him not committing any further offenses during a two-year probation period.

Another student, 23-year-old N.J., also admitted to involvement in the attack.

N.J. observed the victim's group leave the café and took action amidst a crowd, swinging at a friend of Pavlović’s but unintentionally hitting Pavlović instead, while also directing insults at the group.

He received a similar conditional sentence, mirroring that of L.T.

The third group of accused students—A.N. (26), T.S. (23), and M.P. (24)—have denied allegations of their involvement and incitement.

The Prosecutor's Office has sought their detention based on additional evidence presented in the case.

Reports indicate that M.P. was found to have recorded videos documenting the incident on his mobile phone, which he later shared on social media.

In these videos, he allegedly incited others against Pavlović, referencing MMA fighters and their recent matches, which raised alarm over his role in provoking further violence.

In the aftermath of the attack, over 20 individuals were apprehended in connection to the incident involving Miloš Pavlović.

This surge in arrests has spurred protests outside the Novi Beograd police station, focusing on claims of inadequate police protection for Pavlović prior to the incident.

Observers have suggested that there may be a connection between the attack and previously recurring issues related to student safety at the Faculty of Law.

A journalist covering the protests for online media outlet Zoomer was also arrested while documenting the circumstances of the attack.

The situation surrounding this case continues to evolve, with various stakeholders calling into question law enforcement's role and the broader implications for student safety.
