Tragic Double Homicide in Čačak Involves Son as Suspect

Prominent physician and librarian stabbed to death, suspect apprehended after fleeing the scene
On March 17, 2025, a tragic incident in Čačak resulted in the deaths of Jovo B. (78) and Milica B. (73), a respected physician and librarian, respectively.

Their son, 41-year-old Mihailo B., was apprehended shortly after the alleged double homicide.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect faces charges of murder, and has been placed in pre-trial detention at a special prison hospital in Belgrade.

Reports indicate that the crime occurred around 8 PM in the Ljubić Kej neighborhood, specifically on Danica Marković Street.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that a heated argument preceded the violent confrontation between Mihailo B. and his parents.

Allegedly, during the dispute, Mihailo took a knife and fatally stabbed both his parents multiple times.

Following the incident, concern arose when Jovo and Milica's daughter-in-law arrived at the family residence looking for Mihailo, who had been living with them.

According to neighbors, she initially rang the doorbell, suspecting he might be inside, and then called for help after failing to reach him by phone.

Upon being unable to enter, she contacted the police, expressing her worries about the situation.

Law enforcement quickly responded to the scene.

Upon entering the apartment, they discovered a disturbing scene involving the deceased and evident signs of violent struggle.

An immediate search was launched for Mihailo B., who was believed to have left the premises and attempted to flee towards Belgrade.

Neighbors reported hearing loud noises and disturbances at the time of the incident, detailing how the commotion was noted prior to the arrival of the police.

After several hours of investigation, the bodies were removed for autopsy to determine the exact time and method of death.

Mihailo B. was later located in the village of Svračkovci during a focused manhunt.

The apprehension occurred without incident, and he was taken to the local police station for questioning.

Jovo B. was known as a highly regarded nephrologist in Čačak, previously serving as a professor at a medical school, while Milica B. held a position in the scientific department of the City Library.

Sources indicate that there had been no prior reports of violence within the family, intensifying the shock within the community following this violent act.

Pre-trial detention for Mihailo has been extended while legal proceedings unfold.
