AI Week Festival Launches in Belgrade, Highlighting Artificial Intelligence Impact

The 'AI Week' festival, running until June 10, brings together IT leaders and startup communities to explore the implications of artificial intelligence.
The 'AI Week' festival, focused on artificial intelligence (AI), was inaugurated on Monday in Belgrade, organized by Startit.

The event is set to run until June 10 and aims to connect leaders from the IT industry and startup communities across the region and Europe.

Vukašin Stojkov, the founder of Startit, emphasized the significant impact that the rapid development of AI will have on society.

Stojkov described AI’s influence as both a major positive and negative shock, underscoring the necessity for society to prepare for this transformation.

He stated, 'It is crucial for our nature and society to be thoroughly prepared for this impending arrival.'

Over the course of ten days, the festival will feature more than 20 events, where experts from across Europe will share knowledge on how best to adapt to AI's advancements, with a particular focus on the IT sector.

The sessions will include discussions on application development and model setups in the AI era.

Stojkov noted, 'To keep pace with this revolution, we must start as soon as possible and take the implications of AI seriously.' He highlighted the accessibility of AI tools, stating that even individuals who previously lacked extensive IT expertise can now create new applications and solutions.

He further explained that while individuals with existing IT skills will have a competitive edge, there is an opportunity for everyone with creative and entrepreneurial inclinations to leverage this technological wave.

The festival is open to participants of all ages, with Stojkov indicating a diverse range of attendees, from teenagers to those over 60. 'This technology will impact all of us significantly, and it is important for each person to understand it seriously,' he remarked.

Jaroslav Kopotilov, the organizer of the opening event 'Data Sanity', announced the goal of connecting experts from various industries and communities.

'We hope to bring together Serbian, Russophone communities, and other international scientists and enthusiasts interested in AI,' he added.

Over the eight days of the festival, Belgrade will host specialists from across Europe, collaborating with local partners to explore a future where AI evolves from potentiality to a defining reality that shapes technology, business, and social landscapes.

The festival features 20 events including a two-day conference, two hackathons, and over 30 lectures throughout Belgrade, with an expected turnout of more than 1,000 attendees from Serbia and the region.

Experts from leading global companies such as Facebook, Microsoft, Perplexity, and many others are set to participate.
