Annual Inflation Rate Reaches 4.5% in February 2025

Food prices have increased by 3.4% year-over-year from February of the previous year.

Notably, meat prices decreased slightly by 0.7%.

Within the food category, the most significant price increases occurred for 'coffee, tea, and cocoa', which surged by 19.7%, followed by 'sugar, jam, honey, and chocolate' at 16.7%.

Oils and fats rose by 9.6%, while fruit prices increased by 11%, and vegetables by 2.7%.

Non-alcoholic beverages' prices escalated by 11.2%, and wine prices went up by 8.3%, with all alcoholic beverages seeing an average rise of 7.9%.

Beer increased by 8.8%, and tobacco prices grew by 7.6%.

Transportation costs have seen notable increases, with ticket prices rising by 23.8% and postal services by 52.6% compared to February of the previous year.

Railway passenger transport prices have also escalated by 23.8%.

In the healthcare sector, medical services registered the highest increase at 11.7%, while dental services went up by 5.8%.

Non-hospital healthcare services increased by 6.7%, and medication prices rose by 4.8%.

Veterinary and other animal-related services have spiked by 11.5% over the year.

Waste disposal fees rose dramatically by 25.1%, while water supply and other housing services saw an average increase of 15.1%.

Housing rents increased by 11.6% year-over-year.

Cleaning, repairing, and sewing services for clothing grew by 9.1%, and shoe repair services saw an increase of 8%.

Carpets and other floor coverings rose by 8.5%, package deals increased by 14.8%, and recreation services by 14.3%.

Hairdressing and beauty salon services grew by 11.7% from February 2024, and personal care electronic appliances increased by 3%.

Repairs of household appliances rose by 8.6%, and apartment maintenance supplies went up by 10%.

Electricity prices for households remained unchanged since November 2023. However, gas prices increased by 0.7% from February 2024 to February 2025, while district heating prices grew by 7%.

Solid fuel prices, in contrast, decreased by 5.5% during the same period.

The most significant price rise for solid fuels was recorded in December 2022, reaching a staggering 51.4% compared to December 2021.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices in February 2025 rose by an average of 0.5% compared to January 2025. In terms of primary product groups, increases were reported in Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.1%), Transport (0.7%), Restaurants and hotels (0.6%), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5%), Health (0.4%), Recreation and culture (0.3%), House maintenance equipment and education (0.2% each), and in the group Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (0.1%).

The clothing and footwear category saw a price decrease of 0.3%.

No significant changes were observed in the prices of other goods and services.

In comparison with December 2024, consumer prices increased by an average of 1.1%.
