Decision on Macut's Nomination for Prime Minister Submitted to Serbian Assembly

The Serbian Assembly must elect a new Prime Minister by April 18 or face extraordinary elections.
The decision regarding the nomination of Macut for the position of Prime Minister has been officially submitted to the Serbian Assembly, as confirmed by information available on the Assembly's website.

This submission was delivered to the Assembly President, Ana Brnabić, earlier today.

According to the statutory requirements, the Serbian Assembly is mandated to elect a new Prime Minister by midnight on April 18, 2024. If the Assembly fails to do so, it will trigger the necessity for extraordinary parliamentary elections.

President Vučić, in his explanatory note accompanying the decision, expressed confidence in Macut's professional and personal qualities, as well as his dedication and expertise necessary for the role of Prime Minister.

Vučić emphasized that Macut assured him of his capability to secure the formation of a new government.

The proposed Prime Minister is expected to continue implementing programs aimed at improving the living standards of all citizens, with a focus on health, education, science and technology, infrastructure development, ecology, energy, agriculture, tourism, and other areas crucial for Serbia's future and its advancement on the European path.

Additionally, Vučić highlighted the importance of maintaining and further strengthening traditionally good relations and cooperation with friendly nations worldwide.

Among the tasks outlined for the new Prime Minister is the realization of the specialized World Expo 'Expo 2027' to be held in Belgrade, which is seen as a significant investment foundation for the incoming government's mandate.

Along with the decision, the Assembly also received Macut's consent to stand as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister.

Macut was born in Belgrade, where he completed his undergraduate studies, obtained a master's degree, and subsequently earned a doctorate from the Medical Faculty.

From 2013 to 2019, he served as an associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Medical Faculty in Belgrade and has been a full professor since 2019. He is currently employed at the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Diseases at the University Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade, where he holds the position of Head of Department and Assistant Director.

Recognized as a leading expert in the field of endocrinology in Serbia, Macut is the author of over 140 scientific papers published in internationally indexed journals.
