Iran Launches Ballistic Missiles at Israel Amid Escalating Tensions

Over 100 rockets targeted major Israeli cities in a significant military confrontation.
Iran has launched more than 100 ballistic missiles towards Israel, with key targets reported to be Tel Aviv and Haifa, as confirmed by Iranian state television.

The operation, dubbed "Rightful Promise 3," reportedly involves a combination of drones and the large-scale missile barrage.

Air raid sirens were activated across northern Israel, with local media reporting explosions in Haifa and Kiryat.

As of now, there have been no reported casualties from the attacks, according to Israel’s emergency services.

However, emergency crews have been deployed to handle incidents related to landslides, damage to residential buildings, and brush fires in coastal and northern regions.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the detection of missile launches from Iran, and are actively using air defense systems to intercept incoming threats.

The military issued warnings that sirens may sound in the coming minutes as they work to neutralize the missile barrage.

To ensure civilian safety, the Israeli population has been advised to seek shelter and remain in protected areas.

Civilian directives stressed minimizing movement in public spaces and avoiding gatherings.

In a notable response, sirens were also heard in Jordan's capital, Amman, leading to the country temporarily closing its airspace.

Concurrently, Israeli air forces are reportedly targeting military sites in Tehran while intercepting missiles launched from Iran.

Explosions have been reported in Haifa, with dramatic footage emerging from Tel Aviv showing numerous interceptors engaged in aerial combat with the incoming missiles, illuminating the night sky with bright explosions.

The recent escalation follows Israel’s airstrikes on Iranian positions, which Israeli officials claim were aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

In the aftermath of these attacks, Iranian state media reported at least 78 deaths and hundreds of injuries within Iran.

Iran has asserted that it will retaliate for these strikes, indicating a severe escalation in hostilities.

In a televised address, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that Iran would not leave Israel unscathed in retaliation for the Israeli attacks.

Additionally, significant international responses have emerged, including statements from French President Emmanuel Macron affirming Israel's right to defend itself while urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and work towards de-escalation.

As the situation develops, global ramifications are being closely monitored, particularly concerning energy markets due to fears over potential disruptions, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital transit route for global oil and gas supplies.
