In a notable escalation of tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, authorities in Pristina have expelled two members of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and imposed a five-year ban on their entry into Kosovo and Metohija.

The moves follow a series of detentions at key administrative crossing points, which have drawn sharp criticism from Serbian officials.

Mitrović, a spokesperson for the Serbian government, announced the prohibitory measures against Milojević and expressed concerns about the conduct of Kosovo police during the detentions at Jarinje.

He stated that Milojević was apprehended without due process, held in handcuffs, and interrogated as a witness, without access to inform his family of his whereabouts.

Mitrović indicated plans to appeal the entry prohibition within eight days, with hopes of reducing the restrictions on Milojević’s travel to the region.

In a parallel case, another officer, Nikola Vujović, was detained on the Merdare crossing after having his documents seized, and subsequently expelled from Kosovo.

Vujović's lawyer, Bogdan Lazić, confirmed that Vujović's expulsion was justified under claims of endangering national security, as he did not possess permission from the temporary institutions in Pristina to perform his duties.

Lazić criticized the decision, labeling it as politically motivated and discriminatory, asserting that it violates Vujović's right to familial life, highlighting that no criminal charges were against him.

The situation escalated with reports that Kosovo police have targeted additional Serbian MUP personnel, resulting in multiple detentions at various administrative crossings, including notable arrests on the Brnjak and Končulj crossings.

Petar Petković, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, condemned these actions, describing them as politically motivated reprisals against the Serbian population residing in Kosovo.

Simultaneously, the political landscape in Serbia is witnessing heightened agitation, marked by the recent petition from 25 members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) demanding the resignation of President Aleksandar Vučić, citing concerns over democratic integrity and governance.

The petition reflects broader discontent within the intellectual community regarding the state of democracy in Serbia.

Further complicating the panorama is the planned protest activity in Serbia, coinciding with the Vidovdan holiday, where calls for mobilization have been reported.

Concerns are raised over the potential for civil unrest as Serbian activists organize in response to perceived injustices both locally and in Kosovo.
