Yango Group, a multinational technology company specializing in mobility services, delivery, e-commerce, navigation and mapping services, digital entertainment, and artificial intelligence, has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish its infrastructure within the State Data Center in Kragujevac, Serbia.

This development follows plans that aim to position the data center as a primary infrastructural hub supporting global service delivery, with operations set to commence in 2025.

The company's infrastructure will be built according to a colocation model, where its servers will be housed within the data center.

Sources indicate that the facility will feature a modular, energy-efficient design, incorporating cutting-edge cooling systems, redundant power sources, and advanced security protocols.

Sustainability will be a core component of the project, employing AI systems for climate control and utilizing renewable energy sources whenever feasible.

The planned data center is expected to obtain Tier III certification or higher, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime—critical for a company whose services rely heavily on timely system responsiveness.

Yango Group's investment is seen as a turning point for Serbia, as the project is projected to generate hundreds of jobs both during construction and once the center becomes operational, primarily in engineering, project management, cybersecurity, and logistics.

In a parallel initiative, Serbia has introduced an electronic visa (e-visa) system for citizens from 46 countries, streamlining the process for obtaining tourist and work visas.

This new e-visa application requires basic personal information and a passport photo, with approvals issued electronically, enhancing travel facilitation and expected to bolster the tourism sector.

Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Administration, stated that the e-visa process aims to decrease waiting times and eliminate the need for visits to embassies.

The system will not only benefit tourism but is also anticipated to simplify work visa applications.

The government has also implemented an e-labor sickness benefit service, allowing citizens to avoid physical paperwork during illness, thereby improving efficiency for both employees and employers.

This digital approach is expected to provide instant electronic notifications to employers regarding employee health statuses.

Additionally, the introduction of e-health records is set to take effect in January 2026, consolidating patients' medical histories into one accessible electronic file.

Patients will manage their data while granting access to healthcare providers as needed.

Furthermore, the Serbian government has launched a housing support initiative for young parents, offering a non-repayable grant of €20,000 towards the purchase of their first home alongside favorable credit conditions.

Amendments to existing regulations aim to streamline access for qualifying young mothers, with applications for subsidies and associated loans managed concurrently through designated governmental channels.
