In a recent interview, President Vučić draws parallels between media treatment of his government and former President Trump's administration.
During an interview with the Washington Examiner, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić addressed American audiences regarding the negative portrayal of his administration by CNN, likening it to the media's treatment of former U.S. President
Donald Trump.
Vučić stated, 'My dear friends in the United States, you will understand everything.
Look at what CNN reports; the truth is on the opposite side.
You will see that they work and speak against me, just as they did against President Trump, and then everything will be clear.'
The interview also touched on ongoing protests in Serbia, where Vučić claimed that demonstrators had caused significant damage, specifically mentioning the destruction of 186 tractors.
He characterized the protests as largely self-contained conflicts amongst protesters, asserting that the government had refrained from using force.
'We did not want to arrest anyone,' Vučić noted, while also acknowledging that 44 individuals were detained, including 13 for being intoxicated or inciting violence.
In response to a remark from American journalist Tijana Lou Doušer, who implied demonstrators viewed March 15 as a pivotal moment, Vučić suggested that there would likely be several such significant days ahead.
He emphasized his intention to prioritize economic development and address legislative challenges democratically, expressing pride in Serbia's restraint amid unrest.
Vučić remarked on the rarity of such scenes occurring in Europe, contrasting Serbia's response to protests with instances of unrest in other countries.
