The former U.S. President requires further evaluation following the discovery of a nodule during a routine health check.
WASHINGTON – A spokesperson for
Joe Biden has confirmed that a small nodule was found in the prostate of the former President of the United States during a recent medical examination.
The spokesperson stated, "A small nodule in the prostate was identified during a routine medical check-up, which necessitated further evaluation." The term "small nodule" can encompass a wide range of conditions and will require additional tests to determine the underlying cause.
It is currently premature to ascertain whether the nodule is a benign growth caused by inflammation or something more serious, according to American news reports.
In February 2023, while in office, Biden had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest.
Prior to taking office, several non-melanoma skin cancers were excised from Biden.
"As we anticipated, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma.
All cancerous tissue was successfully removed...
No further treatment is required," stated White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor at that time.
The announcement coincides with the release of excerpts from the book "Original Sin: The President's Downfall, His Cover-Up, and His Catastrophic Decision to Run Again" by Jake Tapper of CNN and Alex Thompson from Axios.
The book claims that Biden's health had deteriorated to the extent that aides considered the possibility that he might need a wheelchair if re-elected.
"Biden's physical decline, most evident in his troubled gait, had become serious enough that internal discussions had taken place regarding placing the President in a wheelchair, but they were unable to do so until after the election," Axios reportedly noted, citing excerpts from the book.
The Biden spokesperson declined to comment on specific details regarding the book.
In an appearance on ABC last week, both Biden and former First Lady Jill Biden largely refuted numerous claims made by reporters suggesting that Biden had experienced cognitive difficulties towards the end of his presidential term.
"False.
There is nothing to support that," Biden said.
Jill Biden further defended her husband, stating, "One of the things I believe is true is that the people who wrote those books were not in the White House with us.
They did not see how hard Joe worked every single day."
