President Trump announces upcoming mineral and natural resources pact with Ukraine, reflecting progress in peace negotiations.
President
Donald Trump announced that the United States is poised to sign a mineral and natural resources agreement with Ukraine, indicating that efforts toward reaching a peace deal in the region are progressing following his discussions with both Russian and Ukrainian leadership.
This statement was made at an event in the White House, where Trump also signed an executive order aimed at increasing the production of critical minerals within the United States.
He highlighted the significance of collaborations involving rare earth elements and minerals, noting ongoing projects globally but emphasizing the importance of the situation in Ukraine.
'We are doing very well in relation to Ukraine and Russia,' Trump stated, adding, 'We are going to be signing a rare earth agreement with Ukraine very soon.'
The President referred to conversations he had earlier in the week with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an attempt to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
He expressed hope that these efforts would lead to a reduction in casualties, stating, 'We would like to bring this to an end, and I think we are doing quite well in that regard.
I hope that we will save thousands of people weekly from dying.
They are dying so needlessly, and I believe we will do that.'
In a related development, both Ukraine and the United States announced earlier this month their intention to expedite the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement aimed at the development of key resources in Ukraine.
Trump views this agreement as a means to restore American debt in support of Kyiv.
The progress of these negotiations reflects a broader strategy of resource management and international cooperation amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
