Local elections were held in Zaječar and Kosjerić on [insert date], where Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić declared a significant victory for the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

According to the initial results presented by Vučić, the SNS secured an estimated 48.05% of the votes in Zaječar, significantly ahead of the second-place contender, who garnered approximately 34.74%.

In Kosjerić, however, the race was tighter, with SNS reportedly winning by a narrow margin—3,686 votes to 3,635 for the opposition's 'United for Kosjerić' list.

Election turnout was reported at 60% in Zaječar, while Kosjerić saw a participation rate over 73%.

The President noted that despite various pressures and intimidation efforts, the SNS achieved what he described as a convincing victory in Zaječar, contrasting it with the closer race in Kosjerić, where he acknowledged difficulties.

While the SNS celebrated its electoral performance, opposition representatives contended that widespread irregularities marred the elections.

Slavica Pantović, a candidate from the 'United for Kosjerić' coalition, asserted that they had won by a slim margin and accused the ruling party of engaging in voter intimidation and fraudulent practices.

She reported irregularities at polling stations, stating, 'What we saw today was not democracy; it was an attempt to steal our victory.'

Furthermore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that police were deployed at polling stations to maintain order given the tense environment, which included public protests and clashes among various groups supporting both the government and the opposition.
