Four Arrested in Major Drug Trafficking Operation in Serbia

Police seize large quantities of illegal substances and firearms in Belgrade bust.
The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest of four individuals in connection with a drug trafficking operation involving the production and sale of amphetamines, commonly known as "speed." The arrests were made by the Criminal Police Directorate in collaboration with the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime.

The arrested suspects include a 36-year-old identified as M. O., alleged to be the organizer of the criminal group, along with a 39-year-old Đ.Đ., a 36-year-old U. S., and a 41-year-old N. H., all from Belgrade.

According to the ministry, the organized crime group is suspected of procuring amphetamine oil from the Netherlands and smuggling it into Serbia through established channels.

They are believed to have produced, stored, and sold amphetamines and associated precursors in a secret apartment in Belgrade.

During the police operation, approximately 7 kilograms of amphetamines, 1.2 kilograms of ecstasy tablets, around 500 grams of MDMA in crystalline form, and about 500 grams of marijuana were seized.

Additionally, authorities confiscated one liter of amphetamine oil, which can yield up to 10 kilograms of amphetamine upon processing, as well as two handguns, 374 rounds of various calibre ammunition, about 10 liters of sulfuric acid, approximately 11 kilograms of caffeine, two electronic scales, two vacuum sealers, and other equipment necessary for the manufacture and packaging of amphetamines.

Further investigations led to searches of additional properties used by the suspects in Belgrade, resulting in the seizure of around 70 grams of amphetamine, 10 ecstasy tablets, another electronic scale, a vacuum sealer used for packaging narcotics, and approximately €110,000 and 100,000 Serbian dinars, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.

The suspects are currently being held for up to 48 hours and will be presented to the relevant prosecution authorities along with a criminal complaint.
