Ana Brnabić, the Prime Minister of Serbia, recently addressed the ongoing protests across the country, asserting that they have devolved into mere violence rather than constructive demonstrations.

These protests, initially framed as expressions of empathy and calls for justice following tragic events in the nation, have been characterized by incidents of aggression and disorder, according to her statements.

During her remarks, Brnabić expressed condolences to the family of Vukašin Crnčević, who tragically lost his life following an accident involving a collapsing canopy at the Novi Sad train station last year.

She emphasized that such tragedies should not be exploited to create division among the Serbian populace.

The Prime Minister condemned the violent actions of some participants who, she claims, targeted individuals attending a Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) event in Niš.

Witnesses described scenes where protesters were reportedly throwing stones, eggs, and bottles, and engaging in aggressive behavior against attendees.

Brnabić highlighted that while these individuals claimed they were protesting for justice, their actions suggested a different motive, leading to confusion among many citizens.

In her remarks, Brnabić referred specifically to the role of Natalija Jovanović, the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Niš, whom she accused of inciting negative behavior among young people.

The Prime Minister characterized the actions seen during the protests as representing the worst aspects of human behavior.

Despite the rising tensions, Brnabić lauded those who participated in the SNS event for their bravery, asserting that they did not allow the recent violent incidents to intimidate them.

She concluded her statements by expressing confidence in the resilience of Serbia, emphasizing a commitment to recognizing both good and bad actions in society.
